Verifying your domain

To send email campaigns and journeys, we need to verify that you are using a valid email address hosted at a domain you can access.

Why is this needed?

Most Inbox Clients have strenuous spam filters to keep users safe from malicious email senders. Quite often than not, these filters stop email marketing messages from legit senders as well.

When you use email marketing software to send your emails, it will appear as being from you, but it is being sent via Forward - this being another company effectively. So, to mail filters, your email can display similar characteristics as an email sender masquerading as somebody else.

By verifying your domain, you are adding a seal of authenticity to your email. It's how the recipient's mail filter links your domain with the identity of the server being used to send emails. This not only keeps your emails from reaching the spam folders but also protects your sender reputation.

How to verify your domain

Verifying your domain can sound like a complex process with a lot of jargon being thrown around. We've made the entire process quite simple–if you can CMD+C & CMD+V, you can verify your domain.

How to find your myshopify URL

When you’re setting up your Forward account, the first thing we do is connect with your Shopify store. You’ll need to enter you myshopify URL to get started.

To find your myshopify URL, head to your Shopify Admin dashboard. You’ll find it in the address bar in your browser.

Or, you can go to Online Store → Domains

You’ll find the URL under Shopify-managed Domains section.

How to create a new campaign

Campaigns are one-off emails or SMS that have a specific goal. It can be used to let your subscribers know that you’re launching a new product line, announcing a flash sale, or sharing information about your brand.

There are four major components you need to decide before sending a campaign:

Channel
Content
Audience
Timing

How to create a new campaign

Step 1: Head to Campaigns → Create Campaign

You’ll find the button in the top right corner.

Step 2: Name your campaign

Give your campaign name and then add a brief description.

Pro Tip: We recommend you use this format for Campaign Names so it’s easy for you to find them in the future:

[Campaign Name] | [Audience] Eg: Holiday Discount | BFCM Top Spenders

Step 3: Choose a template

You can choose an existing template you’ve already created or use the pre-built ones. You can also create a new one without losing any progress.

Step 4: Enter the email headers

I. Subject line: Make this short, crisp, and intriguing. If the subject is too long, it’s gonna get cut off, especially when viewing from mobile.

Understanding the template editor

Learn about the different features of Forward's template builder–designing layouts and configuring blocks. Forward has a visual, drag-and-drop email builder that uses MJML to ensure your emails look great on all devices while giving you the flexibility to to create a visually stunning email that's bound to awe your subscribers.

You'll find a bunch of pre-built templates in the Templates section, on top of which you can build your own.

Or, use the _Basic templates _ that have pre-set layouts which you can use to add your own images and content.

Or, you can build one from scratch. Go crazy!

Layouts, Blocks, and Layers

When you open the email template editor, the sidebar will display a selection of block and layout options to choose from.

Layouts make it easy for you to organize your the content of your email into sections. You'll find the following options:

1 column
2 columns
3 columns
4 columns

To select a layout, simply drag and drop the element exactly where you want it.

Blocks, on the other hand, are the types of content (text, images, products, etc.) placed inside layouts. You have 8 blocks to choose from:

Creating email identities

Once you've verified your domain, you need to create sender identities. These are the Email Addresses from which your campaigns and journeys will be sent.

Here's how you create them:

Head to Settings → Channels

Click on Email and select the Channel Settings tab

Click on the Edit button
Select a verified domain, enter the sender email address, and the sender name

Hit Save

| You can create as many sender identities as you want. But, we recommend sending emails from 1 or 2 email addresses only to make it a good experience for your shoppers.

How does the free trial work?

Forward's free trial lets you test drive all of our features.

You can add unlimited contacts; the trial isn't time-bound. You can send up to 2000 emails or 130 SMS after which your free trial will expire. Once that happens, you can add more credits to keep sending campaigns.
